Germany and France: 2 European Champions
We are talking here about annual leave and paid holidays. Surprisingly, and according to a recent report from the "Institut der Deutschen Wirtshaft" (IW) Germany is also leader in such a ranking. German workers top the EU in time off with an average of 30 days of paid leave plus 10 days of public holidays per year. In fact, French workers enjoy similar numbers as German workers. Behind these 2 countries in the holiday rankings are Italy with 28 days of paid leave and 9 days of public holidays and Spain ( 22 and 14). But regarding the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry Germany is also ahead of France, Italy and Spain. Which just shows that holidays and competitiveness are not contradictory.
