A Worrying situation: China is already leading in dozens of Critical Technologies
A study by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute found China has surged ahead of America in 37 of 44 critical technologies, positioning China "to excel not just in current technological in almost all sectors, but in future technologies that don't yet exist...".
Whether it is space or robotics, artificial intelligence or biotechnology, China is now leading the way in many strategic areas. Moreover, in these areas it is even ahead of the United States. It must be underlined that China has already conquered the renewable energy market and become a world leader in solar energy and batteries for electric vehicles. According to data from the International Energy Agency, China controls more than 70% of global battery production and nearly 80% of solar photovoltaics. But also 50% of the exploitation of rare metals. "To make China the global technology and innovation leader, Beijing is executing a three-part plan to build up its domestic tech capabilities; steal what it can't build; and make the world- especially the West- increasingly dependent on Chinese technology to gain geopolitical leverage." (Re: Doug Kelly CEO American Edge). This is why the Western world and especially Europe must finally react so as not to become totally dependent on a non-democratic State.
