The Strength and the Dynamism of the Indian Diaspora
Rajeev Suri (Nokia-Immarsat), Sundar Pichai (Google), Shantanu Narayen (Adobe), these are some of the many names of Indian citizens who are at the head or have been at the head of some of the world's largest companies. It is an indisputable fact that many companies, particularly those active in new technologies, have Indian or Indian-origin managers. To explain this specificity, we must first recall that many CEOs born in India have completed excellent studies in engineering but also in management and economics. Several studies claim that India has the world's biggest Diaspora: probably over 20 million (Re: UN) and more certainly over 30 million (Re:Indian Admin.). Most of them live in the USA, in Saudi Arabia and in Burma. The UK also hosts a large Indian Community which can be estimated at more than 2 million people. Let us also recall that many observers of migrations around the world point out that this Diaspora has become "a tool of Indian soft power". According to the Indian newspaper " Economic Times" being of Indian origin was no longer a fact to be hidden but flaunted. The Indian Diaspora has undoubtedly become over the years the best asset of a rapidly developing country.
